I have performed as an English teacher at Maria Teresa Cancino School to high school 4th-grade students and I am nowadays doing private English lessons to children, teenagers, and adults.
When planning an English lesson, I focus on speaking and reading skills rather than writing, encouraging the natural learning of the second language, and improving fluency and accuracy of the pronunciation.
As well as the focus of the lessons, I complement my lessons with technology, such as engaging students with online activities, videos, and audios of everyday situations. In addition to that, I apply grammar into my lessons according to the context of introducing corresponding vocabulary and verb tenses. For example, if I am teaching content of outdoor activities, I will explain the way students have to use present continuous, adverbs of frequency, wh-questions, and using videos to make them develop their listening, writing, and oral skills.
On the other side, it is important to mention that I have done my thesis to get my bachelor´s degree based on teaching English to students with special educational needs in order to demonstrate the positive outcomes on the improvement of concentration, the interest of new sounds in a foreign language and modulation as well as the articulation of the words either in Spanish or English.
The results of the research were satisfying and demonstrative that learning any foreign language and having a linguistic disorder might help to improve and develop better their linguistic skills and get along with their peers very well .
