I am an Australian English teacher living in Cali. I have 5 years teaching experience in Bogota.
I mainly teach professionals interested in career advancement, bilingual job opportunities and increasing their income prospects. I also teach students preparing for TOEFL and IELTS exams and those who are just interested in learning English for their own personal development.

My background is in IT and teaching English as well as translations. I hold a Master's degree with honours in Information Technology and Telecommunications as well as an English teaching TEFL certificate.

I have international work experience (Europe, Australia and South America) and enjoy working with people of all nationalities and cultures. I have worked both independently and for many English teaching companies and bilingual schools.

My teaching style is quite practical. Firstly, I find out the student's needs and interests and whether they are working towards a specific goal. I set the students particular tasks to begin with so that I can evaluate their current level and spot any weaknesses or areas in need of reinforcement. I check their listening, speaking and reading skills to start with as well as their pronunciation. From this point we can begin working on any grammar issues and practical exercises while always trying to improve vocabulary, learn new skills (such as presentation and interview skills) and relevant information depending on the student's needs. This could be business english or practicing interviews through role playing or watching videos, or fully immersive real world conversations in English. In my classes, students will also learn about phrasal verbs and idiomatic expressions and when and how to use them in the real world.

I use a lot of varied material and resources to keep my classes interesting and fun. I also make use of all methodologies applying them seamlessly and as needed, depending on the students' individual learning style and learning abilities.

I am passionate about teaching English as it is very rewarding to help students achieve their personal goals and also improve their financial prospects. I believe learning English properly can open many new doors and opportunities.
